CompTIA Network+ Program Description
The CompTIA Network+ certification is an internationally recognized validation of the technical knowledge required of foundation-level IT network practitioners.
The CompTIA Network+ certification ensures that the successful candidate has the important knowledge and skills necessary to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, install, operate and configure basic network infrastructure, describe networking technologies, basic design principles, and adhere to wiring standards and use testing tools.
The skills and knowledge measured by this examination were derived from an industry-wide job task analysis and validated through an industry-wide global survey in Q2 2008. The results of this survey were used in weighing the domains and ensuring that the weighting is representative of the relative importance of the content.
CompTIA Network+ Program Objectives
At the end of the program, the participants will be able to:
- Manage, maintain, troubleshoot, install, operate and configure basic network infrastructure
- Describe networking technologies
- Understand basic design principles
- Adhere to wiring standards and use testing tools
Target Audience
IT network practitioners such as Network Field Technician/Engineer, Network Administrator, Help Desk Technician, Network Support Specialist, and Network Analyst.
Duration
This program is 5 days of intensive training class.
Requirement
It is recommended for CompTIA Network+ candidates to have the following:
- CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent knowledge, though CompTIA A+ certification is not required
- Have at least 9 to 12 months of work experience in IT networking
Assessment
At the end of the program, the participants will be assessed with 90 minutes of CompTIA Network+ Exam.
Award
CompTIA Network+ Certification will be awarded upon successfully passing the exam from CompTIA.

Module 1 : Network Technologies
- Function of common networking protocols
- Identify commonly used TCP and UDP default ports
- Identify the following address formats
- Evaluate the proper use of the following addressing technologies and addressing schemes
- Identify common IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols
- Purpose and properties of routing
- Compare the characteristics of wireless communication standards
Module 2 : Network Media and Topologies
- Categorize standard cable types and their properties
- Identify common connector types
- Identify common physical network topologies
- Differentiate and implement appropriate wiring standards
- Categorize WAN technology types and properties
- Categorize LAN technology types and properties
- Common logical network topologies and their characteristics
- Install components of wiring distribution
Module 3 : Network Devices
- Install, configure and differentiate between common network devices
- Identify the functions of specialized network devices
- Advanced features of a switch
- Implement a basic wireless network
Module 4 : Network Management
- Function of each layer of the OSI model
- Identify types of configuration management documentation
- Evaluate the network based on configuration management documentation
- Conduct network monitoring to identify performance and connectivity issues
- Explain different methods and rationales for network performance optimization
- Implement network troubleshooting methodology
- Troubleshoot common connectivity issues and select an appropriate solution
Module 5 : Network Tools
- Select the appropriate command line interface tool and interpret the output to verify functionality
- Purpose of network scanners
- Utilize the appropriate hardware tools
Module 6 : Network Security
- Function of hardware and software security devices
- Common features of a firewall
- Methods of network access security
- Methods of user authentication
- Issues that affect device security
- Identify common security threats and mitigation techniques
