PRIMAVERA P6 PROFESSIONAL TRAINING DESCRIPTION

Primavera Systems is a brand name under which a range of software packages that collectively form a comprehensive enterprise project portfolio management (EPPM) solution are marketed. Primavera was launched in 1983 by Primavera Systems Inc. and was acquired by Oracle Corporation in 2008.

 

PRIMAVERA P6 PROFESSIONAL TRAINING EPPM (Enterprise Portfolio Project Management)

Oracle launched  two products callled Primavera P6 i.e. P6 EPPM (Enterprise Portfolio Project Management) and P6 Professional.  The focus of Primavera EPPM software is to allow organizations to effectively manage their programs and projects – regardless of complexity. The software provides end-to-end, real-time visibility of all corporate information to inform portfolio management decisions, determine the correct resources, and ensure that individual project teams have the appropriate skills to complete any given project.

PRIMAVERA P6 Professional

Primavera P6 Professional is a Windows client project scheduling application that is installed on a user’s workstation. Much like any other Windows application, it is run from an executable file that resides on the workstation machine.

P6 Professional can be used as a standalone application accessing a locally installed database such as Oracle XE or Microsoft SQL Server Express. It can also access a central database and be used as a multi-user system when data needs to be shared with others.

P6 Professional is typically used in such industries as, Engineering, Construction, Aerospace, Defense, Utilities, Oil and Gas. P6 Professional is the preferred tool for power users such as schedulers and project managers in industries where detailed, fast, accurate scheduling and critical path method are vital elements for project planning, execution and success.

This     training     leads     participants to use Primavera P6 Professional (Primavera’s Windows-based) through the entire project life cycle, from planning to execution. Topics include adding activities, assigning  res sources, and creating a baseline. Participants also gain a thorough background in the concepts of planning and scheduling. It is appropriate for those using P6 Professional either as a stand-alone application or as part of P6 EPPM.

All workshops and instruction stress the three basic elements of project management: schedule, re- sources, and costs. At the end of each day, students apply the con- cepts and functionality they learned in a case study. The course is divided into three sections: Creating a Project; Scheduling the Project; Project Execution and Control.

During the 3-day training our trainer will guide participants how to use Primavera P6 Professional using Hands on Approach and in user friendly  environment.

PROJECT COST MANAGEMENT TRAINING OUTLINE

DAY 1:

1.      Overview of Project Management

In this module the participants will learn an overall approach to managing projects. This will provide the context for developing and managing the project budget. Topics will cover:

  • Basic definitions
  • Common project management processes
  • Project phases and life cycles
  • Project deliverables
  • Roles and responsibilities

2.      Developing the project schedule

In this module we will create the overall project schedule and learn how the budget is tied to each individual project activity. Topics will cover:

  • Creating the work breakdown structure (WBS)
  • Defining the activities
  • Adding resources
  • Estimating activity durations
  • Developing the schedule

Exercise: Participants will be given a simple list of project activities and, in teams, develop the detailed schedule from it.

DAY 2:

3.      Developing the Project Budget

Here the participants will learn how create both high-level budgets at the beginning of the project and the detailed budgets that are necessary for project control.

Topics will cover:

  • Top-level budgets
  • Detailed budgets
  • The S-Curve
  • Personnel costing
  • Materials and equipment costing
  • Adding in overhead
  • Management reserves

Exercise: Participants will use the previously-created detailed schedule to create the budget for the project, including the costs of personnel, equipment, materials, and overhead.

4.     Controlling the Project Budget

In this module the participants will learn the necessary steps to controlling and managing the project budget. Topics will cover:

  • Identifying and managing hours worked
  • Tracking equipment and materials costs
  • Weekly budget reports
  • Work packages and control accounts
  • Control Account Plans (CAPS)
  • Estimates to Complete (ETC) and Estimates at Completion (EAC)

Case Study:

The participants will be given the details of a real project that went considerably past its planned budget and define the reasons for the cost overruns.

Exercise:

Developing CAPS for a sample project, including measurement points and tying the CAPS into the organization’s overall accounting system.

In this module the participants will learn that for large, complex projects the most accurate way to track progress is through Earned Value Management. The participants will learn:

SOFTWARE PROJECT MANAGEMENT TRAINING OVERVIEW

There is a wealth of information on project management. But unfortunately, we have come to realise that only a small fraction applies to software project management. This training is about new practices and new ideas project managers ought to consider to make their software development projects succeed. Why did the traditional approaches to project management used in other industries fail in software endeavours?
This training will include a critique of the “thermostat model” of management of WBS (Work Breakdown Structure), Gantt and PERT charts, and much of the common wisdom represented in the PMBOK, for example. PROJECT QUALITY MANAGEMENT TRAINING OVERVIEW

Mengelola kualitas pada proyek Anda berarti bahwa Anda harus terlebih dahulu memahami harapan kualitas tertentu dari pelanggan Anda dan kemudian menempatkan rencana proaktif untuk memenuhi harapan tersebut. “Rencana proaktif ” berisi sejumlah elemen – yang paling penting adalah kegiatan kontrol kualitas (Quality Control) dan jaminan kualitas (Quality Assurance) yang perlu dilakukan .

Kontrol kualitas (QC) dan jaminan kualitas adalah konsep penting , namun sebagian besar manajer proyek hanya memiliki pemahaman yang masih samar-samar tentang makna dan perbedaan antara istilah-istilah ini .

Kontrol kualitas (QC) merujuk ke kegiatan yang terkait dengan kualitas ketika membuat project deliverables. Kontrol kualitas digunakan untuk memverifikasi bahwa kualitas dari deliverables dapat diterima, lengkap, dan benar. Contoh kegiatan Quality Control termasuk deliverable peer review dan proses pengujian (Testing Process).

Jaminan Kualitas (QA) mengacu pada proses yang digunakan untuk membuat deliverable , dan dapat dilakukan oleh seorang manajer , klien , atau bahkan third party reviewer. Contoh jaminan kualitas termasuk checklist proses dan audit proyek. Jika proyek Anda akan diaudit , misalnya , auditor mungkin tidak dapat memberitahukan apakah isi dari deliverable tertentu dapat diterima (quality control). Namun, auditor seharusnya mampu memberitahukan apakah deliverables tampaknya dapat diterima berdasarkan pada proses yang digunakan untuk membuat deliverable tersebut (Quality Assurance). Itulah sebabnya auditor proyek dapat melakukan review jaminan kualitas pada proyek Anda , bahkan jika mereka tidak tahu secara spesifik apa yang Anda deliver.. Mereka tidak tahu proyek Anda , tapi mereka tahu seperti apakah proses yang baik itu.
