INTRODUCTION

This course focuses on corrosion – from either internal or external source – and its potential problem, and the protection methods to stop or control them. Review on corrosion and technique by which it can be identified, monitored and controlled will be given in detail. Active participation is encouraged through case studies and examples especially on the use of painting and coatings, transformer-rectifier of impressed current, magnesium, zinc and alum sacrificial anodes for external protection, and the injection of corrosion inhibitors and biocides for internal corrosion control.

Pre-Requisite

NONE. No previous training in corrosion control is required. However, to gain the most from this course, a basic understanding of physics, chemistry and basic unit operations will be helpful.

 

Course Content

  • Review of oil & gas surface production facility and operations.
  • Review of metallic materials used in surface production facility and pipelines and the corrosion problem usually happen.
  • Case studies and examples of oil & gas material failure caused by corrosion from internal and external source.
  • Uniform, galvanic and localized corrosion failures.
  • Internal corrosion of pipeline, vessel and processing equipment caused by sour component, H2S, CO2, organic acid, brine, and the SRB (sulfate reducing bacteria).
  • External corrosion of underground, underwater and under-seawater pipeline and structure caused by impurities in soil and water environment.
  • External corrosion of topside structure caused by marine atmosphere.
  • Basic electrochemistry of corrosion process, Ohm’s law and the corrosion rate.
  • Corrosion control and prevention with painting & coatings and the cathodic protection.
  • Measurement of corrosion potential and corrosion current.
  • Protection with sacrificial anode and impressed current.
  • Understanding NACE Standard RP-01-69 to stop external corrosion attack.
  • Requirement, design and criteria of cathodic protection.
  • Sacrificial anode specification, installation and construction.
  • Testing, monitoring, and inspection of cathodic protection.

Ir. Hilman Ahmad, DCE., an Independent Consultant in industrial oil and gas, member of the Society of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers, who manage the Industrial Oil & Gas Education Center for Professionals and has been practicing production operation & safety and corrosion control engineering in Indonesia for more than twenty-five years. He post-graduated from Tokyo Institute of technology (sponsored by UNESCO) in 1977. He joined in-field-practice program at Nippon Kokan Steel Company & Research Center Kawasaki, Japan for production facility design & construction and corrosion prevention & control in 1983, and collaborated with Cormon Industrial Research Center Brighton UK for on-line corrosion monitoring development in 2000.He has been delivering consultative course in production operation, maintenance & safety and corrosion control for personnel from Oil & Gas Company and Petrochemical Industry since 1979.

DESKRIPSI TRAINING PIPELINE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, & MECHANICAL INTEGRITY

Pelatihan ini menjelaskan langkah-langkah dan pemahaman tentang pentingnya perawatan rutin dalam perpipaan, karena pemahaman berdasarkan rincian kualitatif, perhitungan, dan teknik sangat penting dalam mendukung keputusan yang kompeten. Pelatihan ini ditujukan untuk menyoroti metode yang digunakan dalam desain pipa (Pipeline Design) dan juga akan melihat ke dalam prosedur apa yang digunakan untuk memelihara dan merehabilitasi jaringan pipa, concentrating on Sewers. Kursus ini juga akan melihat analisis jaringan pipa dan berbagai fenomena dalam pipa

Dalam pelatihan ini akan dibahas pula mengenai persyaratan dalam mendesain untuk proses sistem perpipaan dan persyaratan yang harus dipenuhi terhadap sistem pemeliharaannya. Pelatihan ini menyajikan beberapa contoh kasus yang akan menstimulus peserta sebagai bahan latihan untuk dapat melakukan aplikasi praktis dengan prosedur yang tepat, sampai pada menemukan solusinya.

Program Pipeline ini dirancang untuk memberikan gambaran yang lengkap dan up-to-date dalam Teknologi Proses Perpipaan. Ini mencakup persyaratan Kode dari desain melalui start-up dari sistem perpipaan baru, serta standar untuk inspeksi dan perbaikan sistem perpipaan yang telah ada, sebagaimana diatur dalam API 570, Piping Inspection Code dan API 579 Fitness for Services. Topik umum dalam pelatihan ini meliputi: Gambaran singkat tentang kode ASME B 31.3, desain tekanan dalam komponen perpipaan, pemilihan flensa, pertimbangan fleksibilitas, material, pengujian dampak, fabrikasi, pemeriksaan dan pengujian. Selanjutnya akan diberikan konsep dan metode untuk menjamin integritas mekanik sistem perpipaan yang ada, yang menyajikan pemahaman menyeluruh tentang bagaimana metodologi API 570 serta API 579 dapat diterapkan untuk menilai integritas struktural komponen perpipaan, dan memutuskan untuk melanjutkan pemakaian. Hal ini juga menunjukkan langkah-langkah perbaikan untuk mitigasi kerusakan dan dengan demikian memperpanjang umur Sistem Perpipaan.

Melalui program pelatihan ini peserta akan mempelajari cakupan kode dan standar, analisis desain, pengelasan dan inspeksi, mekanisme korosi, fitness-untuk-layanan dan analisis kegagalan, dan gambaran seleksi katup dan aplikasi. Hal tersebut adalah fitur dasar teknis pipa dan peraturan desain kode pipa untuk kondisi operasi normal dan occasional loads dan membahas prinsip-prinsip dasar dari material, desain, fabrikasi, pengujian dan korosi, dan efeknya pada integritas sistem. Peserta akan memahami prinsip-prinsip yang akan membantu membangun keseimbangan antara produksi, keamanan biaya, dan integritas perpipaan dan sistem perpipaan.

 

TUJUAN TRAINING PIPELINE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, & MECHANICAL INTEGRITY

Tujuan dari pelatihan Pipeline ini adalah:

  • Peserta akan memperoleh pengetahuan yang mendalam tentang pipa dan spesifikasi material yang tepat, manufaktur, proses fabrikasi dan pengaruhnya terhadap kekuatan dan ketangguhan propeti mekanikal, untuk membantu dalam pemilihan material dan failure analysis. Selanjutnya peserta akan memahami dan memastikan integritas struktural total dari sistem perpipaan, pengolahan, dan manfaatnya
  • Peserta dapat memahami latar belakang teknis untuk formula desain, dan aplikasi untuk desain sistem perpipaan dan pipa. Kursus ini membahas aturan praktek yang tepat dalam tata letak sistem perpipaan untuk pengoperasian yang handal
  • Untuk membiasakan peserta dengan konsep utama, dari kode B 31.3, memahami apakah kode ASME B31.3 telah diterapkan dengan benar ataukah belum, dan memberikan kepada peserta langkah-langkah pendekatan dalam penggunaan B 31.3 kode untuk Desain, fabrikasi, inspeksi instalasi, dan pengujian, sehingga persyaratan desain dari Kode ASME B 31.3 dapat didiskusikan dan diterapkan dengan baik.
  • Peserta dapat mencapai tingkat yang lebih tinggi dalam melakukan pemeliharaan yang unggul dalam proses kegiatan industri, dapat melakukan sertifikasi pengujian tekanan, mengetahui tentang inspeksi pipa, teknik mengevaluasi dan menganalisis data Inspeksi, dan dapat mengetahui bagaimana menghitung laju korosi, interval inspeksi dan parameter yang sama pada  inspeksi pipa.
  • Peserta dapat memeriksa dan menerapkan persyaratan pemeliharaan dan pemeriksaan API 570 untuk sistem perpipaan.
  • Peserta dapat memperoleh pemahaman praktis tentang pipa dan pipa modus kegagalan, mekanisme korosi, mulai tahap pengenalan, mengklasifikasikan, sampai pada penyelesaiannya.
  • Peserta dapat mempelajari modus kerusakan sistem perpipaan dan pipa, serta mempelajari mengenai penilaian risiko dan konsekuensi yang akan dihadapi jika kegagalan (dalam pipa) terjadi
  • Peserta akan diperkenalkan dengan teknik terbaru dan penelitian dalam pipa dan pipa integritas untuk menganalisis kondisi terdegradasi baik kerusakan yang disebabkan karena korosi atau mekanis, serta dapat mengenali penyebab degradasi in-service, dan menerapkan teknik analisis integritas untuk membuat run-perbaikan-ganti keputusan. Dengan kata lain dapat mempelajari metode yang tepat dalam melakukan perbaikan, perubahan dan rerating

Seni desain dan konstruksi sistem perpipaan dan pipa jika dilihat kembali ke peradaban paling awal. Kemajuannya mencerminkan evolusi stabil budaya di seluruh dunia, kebutuhan pengembangan pertanian, pertumbuhan kota-kota, revolusi industri dan penggunaan tenaga uap, penemuan dan penggunaan minyak, perbaikan dalam pembuatan baja dan teknologi pengelasan, penemuan dan penggunaan plastik, pertumbuhan yang cepat dari industri kimia dan listrik, dan meningkatnya kebutuhan untuk jaringan pipa air, minyak dan gas yang dapat diandalkan. Namun, banyak akibat yang dialami jika sistem pipa terkendala mulai dari rugi secara materi, waktu, financial yang lumayan besar bahkan kerugian jiwa. Oleh sebab itu melalui training ini akan dibahas mengenai penjaminan mutu dan operasional yang konsisten, berkesinambungan serta pengoptimalisasian sistem pipa.

Ir. Deddy Nugraha is a dedicated experienced fulltime trainer and technical consultant since 2002. He holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from ITB, Bandung. He has worked nationally in a wide variety of industries including: technology, aerospace, utilities, auditing, mining and institutions thus engaged as a corporate consultant. Pipeline system mean all parts of physical facilities through which gas trasnported, include pipe, valve, appurtenances attached to pipe, compressor, unit, metering station, regulator station, deliverability and holder. He got his doctorate program from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA (1996). He is now also a lecturer at Graduate Study Program at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) teaching for risk and integrity assessment related courses.He has been interacting with oil and gas companies for more than 10 years for training, consultant and project implementation. This much experiences in oil and gas industries will be shared by him in training class. Dr. Ahmad Taufik has much work experiences joining in some institution such as at Lloyd’s Register as Operation Manager, at PT. MMS, PT. Surveyor Indonesia and PT. AT Solusi as consultant and trainer. And at present Dr. Ahmad Taufikis an Asset Integrity Specialist for PT Pertamina PHE-ONWJ (formerly BP West Java, Indonesia). He has performed in depth study in integrity  research for pipeline, mechanical and pressurized system. He is member of ASM and ASME. He has wide interest including RBI, PIM, FTA, FMECA, RCA, RAM study and many other risk engineering areas. Dr. Ahmad Taufik has been chairman and speakers for many Oil and Gas International Conferences in Indonesia, (INDOPIPE, MAPREC), Malaysia (ASCOPE), Singapore and China (IPTEC) for the last five years. He has taught many training class on his expertise topics for many companies in Indonesia.

TRAINING INTRODUCTION 

Pipeline Risk & Integrity Management is the most current and modern integrated management system to insure public and environmental safety for oil and gas pipeline transportation operation both onshore and offshore pipelines. It covers detail risk and integrity assessment, inspection, maintenance and repair plan. The pipeline management will also follows specific rules and procedures outlined by ISO 9000 quality system. To enhance the coverage, pipeline risk and integrity management is usually combined with geographical information system (GIS) and online security electronic system to monitor and control the pipeline right of way (ROW) more effectively. Data base management system is therefore a critical part for successful pipeline integrity management implementation. In this training course ANSI/ASME 31.8S and API 1160 as recommended practices and other related method and procedures, will be discussed.
