Semakin hipercompetitif nya perkembangan bisnis menuntut kita terus berinovasi dalam segala hal. Salah satunya adalah media untuk melakukan presentasi. Materi penunjang dalam kita berpresentasi yaitu tampilan slide presentasi kita. Bagaimana mendesign slide hingga seperti Flash? bagaimana membuat desain tampilan slide yang enak dipandang, bagaimana menggunakan latar yang kreatif dan menarik, bagaimana meletakkan grafik, bagaimana menambahkan efek multimedia (menyisipkan lagu, suara dan video).
Terdapat setidaknya tiga golongan pengguna MS Powerpoint dinilai dari penguasaan techniques, mereka yang bisa membuat Slides dari awal, menambahkan Slide-Slide baru, memasukkan gambar, menambah audio files, menyimpan dan mempresentasikannya, tergolong Beginners. Beginner masih mengalami kesulitan bagaimana menyisipkan suara (audio) dengan berbagai cara, misalnya memasukkan audio melalui Transition Animation Sound atau melalui Toolbar Action (Action setting), Beginner juga belum bisa menggunakan Slide Master (Tab View> Slide Master) dengan baik.
Mereka yang sudah menguasai ketrampilan dasar MS Powerpoint dan mencoba dan berusaha menggali fitur tersembunyi Powerpoint adalah seorang Explorers. Explorer sudah bisa menggunakan sebagian besar Custom animation—mulai dari membuat design template sendiri, mengunduh video Youtube, meng-edit dan meletakkan ke Slides, memasukkan audio dengan berbagai cara dan menggunakan Extended Desktop (multi monitor ketika berpresentasi), dan sudah tidak canggung dengan empat kategori Custom animation effects.
Golongan ketiga adalah Advancers yang sudah piawai merancang Slide menggunakan Slide Master, sudah bisa melakukan online collaboration, menggunakan fasilitas slideshare.net, presentasi wireless dengan Gadget dari Apple dan Gadget berbasis Android, dan sudah mengaktifkan Tab Developer untuk membuat interactive slide dengan Visual Basic for Application, menyisipkan flash video (fldan ketika berpresentasi sudah terbiasa menggunakan fitur Extended desktop dan beberapa keyboard shortcuts.
Namun kepiawaian merancang slide Powerpoint yang sesuai dengan audience dan sesuai dengan tujuan presentasi tidak ditentukan oleh kepiawaian kita menggunakan fitur dan teknik MS Powerpoint, tetapi ditentukan oleh apa yang akan dipelajari dalam training powerpoint ini, yaitu keahlian menata obyek, menerapkan elemen visual, menggunakan warna dan memilih gambar untuk mengganti narasi.
