TRAINING DESCRIPTION CATHODIC PROTECTION FOR ONSHORE AND OFFSHORE STRUCTURE

This course focuses on cathodic protection methods with sacrificial anode and impressed current to stop corrosion. Review on corrosion and technique by which it can be identified, monitored and controlled will be given in detail. Active participation is encouraged through case studies and examples especially on the use transformer-rectifier of impressed current and magnesium, zinc and alum sacrificial anodes.

CATHODIC PROTECTION TRAINING IS DESIGNED FOR

Anyone who needs to understand the basic of corrosion control with Cathodic Protection in any onshore and offshore structure, especially as it relates to his or her area of responsibility, in any industrial, mining, oil and gas production facility.

PREREQUISITES

  • None. No previous training in corrosion control and cathodic protection is required. However, to gain the most from this course, a basic understanding of science, chemistry and electricity will be helpful.

TRAINING INSTRUCTOR CATHODIC PROTECTION

Hilman Ahmad, PhD., an Independent Consultant in industrial oil and gas, member of the Society of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers, who manage the Industrial Oil & Gas Education Center for Professionals and has been practicing production operation & safety and corrosion control engineering in Indonesia for more than twenty-five years. He post-graduated from Tokyo Institute of technology (sponsored by UNESCO) in 1977. He joined in-field-practice program at Nippon Kokan Steel Company & Research Center Kawasaki, Japan for production facility design & construction and corrosion prevention & control in 1983, and collaborated with Cormon Industrial Research Center Brighton UK for on-line corrosion monitoring development in 2000.He has been delivering consultative course in production operation, maintenance & safety and corrosion control for personnel from Oil & Gas Company and Petrochemical Industry since 1979.

PENDAHULUAN TRAINING ELECTROPLATING

Kerusakan material yang disebabkan oleh kimia (dalam larutan asam, larutan netral, dan basa) atau elektro kimia dengan lingkungannya. Lingkungan yang basah atau lembab mempermudah terjadinya korosi, seperti besi tercelup dalam air, tetesan uap air (embun) di atas baja atau besi.

Salah satu proses penyelesaian untuk mengurangi terjadinya korosi bahan adalah dengan proses pelapisan logam terhadap permukaan produk atau logam tersebut dengan menggunakan lapisan pelindung. Dengan pelapisan tersebut dapat juga memperbaiki nilai estetika (tampak rupa), meningkatkan ketahanan logam dasar terhadap gesekan dan goresan, menambah kehalusan permukaan.

Untuk mendukung sistem produksi yang memadai diperlukan tenaga kerja yang handal atau peningkatan keahlian tenaga kerja profesi Proses Pelapisan Logam.

INTRODUCTION :

This course focuses on corrosion – from either internal or external source – and its potential problem, and the protection methods to stop or control them. Review on corrosion and technique by which it can be identified, monitored and controlled will be given in detail. Active participation is encouraged through case studies and examples especially on the use of painting and coatings, transformer-rectifier of impressed current, magnesium, zinc and alum sacrificial anodes for external protection, and the injection of corrosion inhibitors and biocides for internal corrosion control.

Pre-Requisite

NONE. No previous training in corrosion control is required. However, to gain the most from this course, a basic understanding of physics, chemistry and basic unit operations will be helpful.

Course Content

  • Review of oil & gas surface production facility and operations.
  • Review of metallic materials used in surface production facility and pipelines and the corrosion problem usually happen.
  • Case studies and examples of oil & gas material failure caused by corrosion from internal and external source.
  • Uniform, galvanic and localized corrosion failures.
  • Internal corrosion of pipeline, vessel and processing equipment caused by sour component, H2S, CO2, organic acid, brine, and the SRB (sulfate reducing bacteria).
  • External corrosion of underground, underwater and under-seawater pipeline and structure caused by impurities in soil and water environment.
  • External corrosion of topside structure caused by marine atmosphere.
  • Basic electrochemistry of corrosion process, Ohm’s law and the corrosion rate.
  • Corrosion control and prevention with painting & coatings and the cathodic protection.
  • Measurement of corrosion potential and corrosion current.
  • Protection with sacrificial anode and impressed current.
  • Understanding NACE Standard RP-01-69 to stop external corrosion attack.
  • Requirement, design and criteria of cathodic protection.
  • Sacrificial anode specification, installation and construction.
  • Testing, monitoring, and inspection of cathodic protection.
  • Inspection and maintenance of transformer-rectifier and sacrificial anode.
  • Field test, measurement techniques and instrument.
  • Data recording and evaluation of cathodic protection system.
  • Case studies of corrosion control and prevention with cathodic protection.

Ir. Hilman Ahmad, DCE., an Independent Consultant in industrial oil and gas, member of the Society of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers, who manage the Industrial Oil & Gas Education Center for Professionals and has been practicing production operation & safety and corrosion control engineering in Indonesia for more than twenty-five years. He post-graduated from Tokyo Institute of technology (sponsored by UNESCO) in 1977. He joined in-field-practice program at Nippon Kokan Steel Company & Research Center Kawasaki, Japan for production facility design & construction and corrosion prevention & control in 1983, and collaborated with Cormon Industrial Research Center Brighton UK for on-line corrosion monitoring development in 2000.He has been delivering consultative course in production operation, maintenance & safety and corrosion control for personnel from Oil & Gas Company and Petrochemical Industry since 1979.

PENDAHULUAN TRAINING PWHT

Pada saat kontruksi jaringan pipa minyak dan gas akan melibatkan proses penyambungan pipa melalui proses pengelasan. Pada baja yang mengalami proses pengelasan akan terjadi perubahan struktur mikro dan butiran pada daerah lasan dan dan terpengaruh panas. Perubahan tersebut akan menurunkan ketahanan korosi baja dan menurunkan ketangguhannya serta  meningkatkan resiko kegagalan.  PWHT adalah bagian dari process heat treatment yang bertujuan untuk menghilangkan pengaruh negatif yang terbentuk setelah proses pengelasan selesai. Pada training singkat 3 hari Manajemen Post Weld Heat Treatment Teori, Standard Prosedur dan aplikasi, akan dijelaskan pengaruh negatif akibat proses pengelasan dan perbaikan sifat material dengan PWHT terutama untuk material baja.

TRAINING  OBJECTIVES:

This course provides a comprehensive overview for those who are new to the protective coatings industry. It is also an ideal refresher for reviewing the fundamentals of corrosion and control and the use of paint and coating as a protective mechanism against corrosion and deterioration of industrial structures.

  2. Recognize manufacture type and size
  3. Operation, performance and opening characteristic .
  4. Recognizing, part, component and materials
  5. Assembly
  6. PSV degradation material
  7. Painting and surface preparation
  8. Periodic checking, testing and readjusting

This course is designed for  technicians who use, select, install and service of pressure safety valve or everyone who want to know this topic.



TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

Ir. Djoko Hadi Prajitno, MSME. was graduated from Mining Metallurgy Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Material Engineering UNSW Australia. He is as expert in Metallurgy/materials engineer at Metallurgy Laboratory Pusat Teknologi Nuklir Bahan dan Radiometri (PTNBR) Badan tenaga nuklir nasional (BATAN) Bandung. He is also lecturer at University of Jenderal Achmad Yani Bandung and lecturer at ITENAS (Institut teknologi nasional) Bandung. In campus he teachs material engineering, corrosion, advanced material, coating and metallurgy. He has researched some topics related to his expertise such as

  1. Research and development metal alloy with zirconium matrix
  2. Research and development coating of metal alloy inconel with aluminate in collaboration with mining engineering ITB
  3. Production and development of compound alloy between nikel-aluminida metals in collaboration with mechanical engineering ITB
  4. Coating of nikel aluminida at inconel alloy with spray Coating in collaboation with mechanical engineering ITB
  5. Research on Coating
  6. Research for production of material for stater drive Hercules airoplane in collaboration with DISLITBANG TNI AU
  7. Welding research of dissimilar metal
  8. And others

He frequently teachs training class for participants from many Indonesian companies. he has experience and knowledge about materials and skill that can be beneficial for warehouse people. He is member or has experience at some organizations such as HFI, Indonesian Corrosion Association, LSP AKN, Indosian Petroleum Association, National America Corrosion Engineer . Related to his expertise, he has much field experiences.
