FLANGE AND JOINT INTEGRITY TRAINING INTRODUCTION

In the oil & gas and petrochemical industries, compressors play important role to support all facilities and process that require pressurized gases. Furthermore, air or gas leakage is not acceptable since it affecting on productivity or safety. Hence compressor flange joint integrity should be taken into account.

The reliability of the flanged joint depends critically on competent control of the joint making process, alignment, assembly, and its measurement. It is common to put considerable effort into the design process only for improper assembly to lead to joint failure. Therefore it is important that joint making is undertaken by trained and validated technicians who have an understanding of the procedure and the underlying principles and practice.

To achieve better performance on flange joint, it is important to ensure that all individuals with responsibilities in connection with ensuring the safe control of flange joints are trained and validated as competent to undertake these responsibilities. The program is based around a presentation of best practices and utilizes an intelligent bolting system to explain and demonstrate these principles. This unique method allows key areas of joint making e.g. the need to use bolt lubricant, to be clearly understood.

INSTRUCTOR

Dr.Ir. Paryana Puspaputra, M.Eng., and Team

Paryana Puspaputra was born in Kotabumi on January 19, 1964, is a Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Indonesia Islamic University – Indonesia. Undergraduate from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia (ITB) in 1990 and master degree in Mechanical Engineering Department of Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan in 1996. He achieved his doctorate degree in Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia (ITB) in 2012. He is also experienced as consultant and training instructure for several manufacturing and oil company, such as Chevron, Total, KPA, Petrokimia, Semen, Indonesia Power, etc. His background in mechanical equipment and machinery is completed with knowledge in instrumentation technology which was started from his final project in undergraduate by making software and data acquisition for predictive maintenance, and continued with his graduate thesis in control system for nano technology. There are researches and industrial implementation in data acquisition such as building the DNC system for production-shop using CNC machine, developing the balancing machine for Panasia Indosyntex – Bandung, SCADA system Development based on Fuji Electric control system (for IPAL – Pertamina – Cilacap, Toxic Gas Monitoring – Dieng – Central Java, etc). Moreover, he is also an official trainer of softwares for design and manufacturing base on CAD/CAM Technology (AutoCAD, Inventor, and Delcam PowerShape, ArtCAM) and familier with some finite element based analysys softwares such as Moldflow, ANSYS, SAP, CAESAR II, etc.

COMPRESSOR TRAINING INTRODUCTION

Production continuity is a keyword in any process of production activities, in which power system play important role to keep all of the operation.
Compressor is known for its capability to store energy in the form of air pressure. In industrial application, compressors are completed with auxiliaries to control the air flow, pressure, and actuators. Compressors will become advantage if it’s operated and maintained properly. Compressors principles and their system performance however should be understood by operator and any person who get involved with them to increase performance of the operation, maintenance, safety, etc.

 

COMPRESSOR TRAINING OUTCOME

In this training, compressor will be discussed from its principle, application, components and its maintenance. Moreover, their control system to improve performance and safety will also be introduced. After completion of this training participant will understand about the basic principle, application and control system that will help them for improving safety and problem solving on operation and maintenance activities.

 

COMPRESSOR TRAINING OUTLINE

  1. FUNDAMENTALS:
    1. Explain the theory of air/gas compression.
    2. Describe how altitude and moisture affects the compression of air.
    3. Describe the principles of operation of positive displacement and dynamic compressor
    4. Define air compression terminology such as absolute and gauge pressures, compressor
    5. Displacement and compressor capacity, free air, volumetric efficiency, single and double acting, single and multistage.
    6. Given relative data, perform basic calculations to solve for compressor displacement and compressor volumetric efficiency.
  2. RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR:
    1. State and describe the different types of single and multi-stage reciprocating compressors, state the function of the various compressor parts, including valves.
    2. Describe the methods employed to cool air or gas during compression.
    3. List and describe the different types of prime movers used for compressor.
  3. ROTARY COMPRESSOR: Describe the principles of operation, their application, volume and pressure capabilities, methods of regulation, advantages and disadvantages of the following types of (positive displacement) rotary compressors:
    1. sliding vane
    2. the lobe type
    3. roots type
    4. screw
    5. liquid-sealed
  4. CENTRIFUGAL AND AXIAL COMPRESSOR:
    1. Describe the design and operation of the volute and diffuser type centrifugal compressors.
    2. Describe the design and operation of the single-stage double-flow and the four-stage centrifugal compressors.
    3. Describe the design and operation of an axial flow compressor.
    4. State the causes and remedies of compressor surging.
  5. COMPRESSOR SYSTEM AUXILIARIES:
    1. Describe the design and operation of intercoolers and aftercoolers; state their location within the system, describe the maintenance requirements of these components.
    2. State the need for air receivers, their preferred location, and the inspection and maintenance requirements as per Code.
    3. Describe the use of air filters, list and provide a description of the different types commonly used.
  6. OPERATION, CONTROL AND MAINTENANCE:
    1. Explain the following methods employed to control compressor output:
      • Start/stop, dual control
      • Variable-speed
      • Suction line valve
      • Suction or discharge valve
      • Adjustable stroke
      • Variable clearance volume
    2. List and describe the operation of the various types of controllers and safety devices used in a compressed air system. Describe how these devices can be tested while system is in operation.
    3. Describe the internal and external methods of compressor lubrication.
    4. State the various operational checks done by an operator on both the compressor(s) and the compressed air/gas system to ensure safe and efficient operation.
    5. State the preventive maintenance requirements of compressors, auxiliaries, piping and receivers.
    6. State the probable causes of compressed air/gas compressor, receiver or pipeline explosions.
  7. ACT, REGULATIONS AND CODES: The candidate is expected to be able to locate information relating to the staffing, operation, maintenance, inspection, and testing of the compressor plant and its equipments.
  8. SAFETY: The candidate is expected to be able to fully explain the dangers associated with the operation of a compressor plant and all its components, and state the precautions to be taken to minimize or prevent such dangers.

DESKRIPSI TRAINING PIPELINE DAN OIL STORANGE TANK MAINTENANCE

Pelatihan dan pengembangan merupakan investasi dalam kesuksesan masa depan dan memberikan kunci keberhasilan pada SDM. Hal ini sangat penting bahwa tim pemeliharaan memahami mengenai proses maintenance pada Pipeline dan Oil Storange Tank.

Pipeline (perpipaan) merupakan bagian penting khususnya bagi perusahaan oil & gas. Diperlukan teknologi yang tepat dan efisien berdasarkan pengetahuan dalam melakukan desain jaringan pipa yang baik. Desain oil pipelines atau natural gas pipelines melibatkan aplikasi massa, energi dan force balances, seleksi material, line sizing, topografi dan gradien elevasi, working pressure, pressure drop, dan parameter terkait seperti kecepatan erosi, friction factor, flashing, kondensasi, korosi, scaling, deposisi, dan masalah aliran multifase. Tidak ada pendekatan tunggal untuk integritas pipa. Mechanical, civil, chemical, metallurgical, unit operations dan banyak faktor yang saling terkait lainnya merupakan dasar dari keseluruhan desain. Integritas pipeline desain berdasarkan standar, kode dan praktek yang direkomendasikan, terutama dari API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, NACE. Integritas pipeline harus diperhatikan dari awal desain untuk memastikan bahwa garisnya mampu beroperasi tanpa kegagalan. Pipa dipasang harus dalam kategori risiko rendah. Perlindungan untuk mengantisipasi kerusakan internal dan eksternal harus diperhitungkan dengan seksama. Kegagalan pipeline dapat menyebabkan bencana seperti: kebakaran, ledakan, atau keracunan. Faktor safety dan maintenance yang tepat adalah yang paling penting dalam pipa. Pertimbangan faktor keamanan dan keselamatan akan ditempatkan sebagai yang utama dalam desain integritas dan maintenance pipeline.

Sedangkan Tank adalah software untuk desain, analisis, dan evaluasi tank penyimpanan minyak yang dibuat dari baja yang dilas berdasarkan persyaratan standart American Petroleum Institute (API) Standard 650 & 653. Tank memberikan desain yang luas untuk konstruksi tanki baru dan evaluasi dari tanki yang sudah ada. Tank memberikan kemampuan untuk menganalisis ketebalan dinding & bottom plate, cone roof, penyesuaian material, seismic, pertimbangan servis.maintenance, fleksibilitas nozzle, evaluasi penempatan shell, stabilitas angin, tekanan internal, tinggi fluida yang diijinkan, persyaratan ventilasi, dll.

Berdasarkan hal tersebut, pengetahuan mengenai Pipeline dan Oil Storange Tank ini wajib diketahui oleh para desainer, operator dan inspektor pada perusahaan yang mengandalkan banyak pipeline dan oil storange tank untuk operational kerja, terutama berkenaan dengan maintenance yang tepat. Training ini akan memperkenalkan tentang ha-hal yang berhubungan dengan pipeline dan oil storange tank dan faktor kegagalannya sehingga peserta mampu dan lebih percaya diri dalam menangani .

COMBUSTION ANALYSIS TRAINING OVERVIEW

How do we minimize our cost of operating heating equipment, conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions while maintaining heating performance? The answer is, maximize the efficiency of existing furnaces and boilers, as well as verify the performance of newly installed high efficient equipment. The only way to guarantee that a system is operating at maximum efficiency is to perform a combustion analysis and properly adjusting the air/fuel ratio. This program is designed to provide a full understanding of the combustion process, combustion test procedures and the adjustments required to maximize fuel efficiency.

Training will also familiarize participants with fundamentals of common residential gas and oil central space heating systems. Training includes a discussion of the combustion process, chimneys, appliance types, operating and safety controls, electricity and fuel delivery. Participants will be trained to perform tests particular to all types of gas-fired and oil-fired systems and to recommend retrofits. Besides topics of combustion analysis, safety controls, vent safety, carbon monoxide measurement, and heat rise measurements, the treatment of on and off-cycle losses will be covered for oil and gas fired units.

INTRODUCTION INDUCTION MACHINE MAINTENANCE

Induction motors are widely used in all industries and particularly used in large number in different system in power plants. Their failure rate is higher than any other equipment in the power plant. To reduce the down time of induction motors their condition assessment and their maintenance is very important. Also to bring awareness among the electrical maintenance engineers about the methods to be adopted for their effective maintenance and for improving their availability. This training intends to expose the engineers to various testing tools used and diagnostic procedures to be followed for identifying the defects and taking preventive/predictive/corrective actions maintenance to be carried out for reducing their failure.

 

TRAINING OBJECTIVE INDUCTION MACHINE MAINTENANCE

The training aims to bring awareness about usages of various condition assessment tools. So carry out of maintenance activities based on finding of condition assessment with systematic procedures and methodologies to be followed for reducing the down time of the induction motors and enhancing their life. The assessment tools consist noise meter or decibel meter, thermal measurement or infrared thermometer, insulation tester or withstand voltage of winding insulation, electric parameter of induction motor winding such as inductance, capacitance and resistance, also recent technology of harmonic analyzer of power consumed by operation of induction motor.

TRAINING OBJECTIVE 

Pelatihan ini dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan secara komprehensif dan fundamental atau secara filosofis mengenai perbedaan sistem pengendalian dan pengaturan, dengan implementasi perangkat pengedali akhir atau aktuator adalah valve atau kontrol valve. INTRODUCTION LAS LISTRIK

Pelatihan ini dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan secara komprehensif mengenai mesin dan peralatan las listrik. Topik pelatihan ditekankan pada pengoperasian, preventive maintenans (pencegahan), serta pemeliharaan dan perbaikan mesin dan peralatan las listrik, sehingga mesin dan peralatan las listrik dapat beroperasi secara kontinu dan handal. Pada pelatihan ini juga diberikan pengetahuan mengenai inspeksi, perbaikan dan servis bagian-bagian mesin dan peralatan las listrik, serta pengetahuan tentang logam dan inspeksi hasil las listrik.

Pelatihan ini juga dijelaskan tentang prinsip-prinsip dasar fisika, kimia dan metalurgi sebagai aplikasi dari las listrik. Bagian prinsip elektrikal turut diberikan secara diskripsi sederhana tentang diode silicon dan resistor, produksi dan penggunaan gelombang kotak, dan kontrol arus las dengan cara stepless one-knob. Kemudian juga dijelaskan uji non destructive dan destructive hasil las, dan uji penggantian crack yang terbuka kecil.
